Theatre of Dionysus 1

FragTrag.1 is preparing an open-access Database on the life and fragmentary works (tragedies and satyr dramas) of 45 Greek tragedians of the 6th and the 5th centuries BC. These poets include, respectively, the pioneers of Greek drama, as well as the competitors of Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides (the only three tragedians from whom we have complete works). In addition to providing important information on the life and the career of these poets, the database will include the first Digital Edition of their fragmentary works.

The Database comprises two digital editions:

(a) Greek Tragedians Online: Fragmentary Plays, Patras, 2020 - (edited by Andreas P. Antonopoulos)

(b) Greek Tragedians Online: Testimonia and Biographies, Patras 2020 - (edited by Αndreas P. Antonopoulos, Stylianos Chronopoulos, Panagiota Taktikou, Anastasia Psomiadou and Aikaterini Giakimtsouki-Magaraki)

with their combined material being organised in a single collection per tragic poet.

Its data can be processed with the aid of the following digital tools:

(1) “Full Text Search”

(2) “Timeline of Events”

(3) “Index of Gods and Heroes”

(4) “Index of Places”

(5) “Index of Sources”

(6) “FragTrag.1 vs Snell/Kannicht” (concordance)

The project is hosted by the Department of Philology, University of Patras and its Centre for the Study of Myth and Religion in Greek and Roman Antiquity.
